Brett Powell, BS, CCMA, EMT

Brett was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana, and graduated from Florida State University in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in biological science. He has over eight years of healthcare experience in various clinical and research fields. Brett worked for the Florida State college of Medicine as a biomedical researcher for three years, specializing in FGF-1 mutated proteins, mathematical models for splinted excisional wounds, as well as histological wound healing in diabetic-models injected with experimental regenerative proteins.

Brett also worked at Florida Hospital Tampa as a surgical research assistant in 2015, focusing on new and developing biomarkers, as well as various novel targeted-treatment modalities in pancreatic cancer.

For the last two years, Brett has worked as a Critical Care EMT in Jacksonville with TraumaOne and Century Ambulance, working exclusively with critically ill or injured ICU and trauma patients. He is also a member of the On-Field EMS for the Jacksonville Jaguars, taking care of injured players.

Outside of research, Brett enjoys running Triathlons, working with FEMA for domestic and international disasters, taking his two cats to the park, and spending as much time as possible with his wife at the beach.
